| The Fullmoon Day of Kason is marked by the waterpouring ceremony at the
Maha-Bodhi tree, the holy Bodhi tree (Fiscus religiosa) at the foot of which
Gotama Buddha attained Buddhahood. Devotees also poured water there to make sure it did not die of drought during summer, especially in Kason, the middle of the hot season, and the custom has survived to the present day. |
